1:45 pm–2:45 pm - Growing Green: Greenhouse Cultivation in a Competitive Marketplace
Steve Garner is a life-long cannabis enthusiast and cultivator whose experience with the plant dates back almost 2 decades. While the early years of this experience were spent cultivating indoors and in smaller spaces, he would eventually move on to combine his education and experience in commercial greenhouse operations with his love for the cannabis plant.
Steve graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Horticulture, spent 7 years in the floriculture industry cultivating and consulting on a commercial scale and then moved on to hydroponic lettuce, herb and tomato cultivation in state-of-the-art greenhouses. After several years in that sector he moved to Aspen, CO to put his knowledge to work in a legal cannabis greenhouse where he helped start-up and stabilize a 25,000 sqft operation over the course of 2 years. Armed with this experience and passion, he went on to form Pure Cultivation with the help of his former colleague, Graham Tucker. Over the past 2.5 years they have successfully assisted in applying for and starting up a Tier 1 greenhouse cannabis facility in Ohio, consulted on greenhouse operations in Maryland, Hawaii and Colorado and continue to consult to the leading companies in the hydroponic lettuce sector.
Their specialties lie in strategic business planning and application support as well as designing, commissioning and overseeing operations for cutting-edge greenhouse facilities that are commonly comprised of Dutch Venlo structures, high degrees of automation and mechanical HVAC systems.
